I've spent over 20 years fighting for working people — on picket lines, in tough negotiations, tribunals, and corridors of power. As General Secretary of TUC Cymru, I've helped secure fairer wages, safer workplaces, and real investment in people's futures. I've worked closely with Senedd Ministers, Councils, and the Wales Office to help shape a Welsh industrial strategy that puts workers, skills, and communities first.
I've served as a school governor, Commissioner for the Constitutional Future of Wales, chaired my local Labour CLP and sit on the boards of the People's Health Trust and the Bevan Foundation.
I grew up in Cathays, the daughter of a steelworker, in a Welsh, working-class Pakistani family that taught me the meaning of hard work and solidarity. My dad, a union rep and proud Labour man, fought for his colleagues on the shop floor. That's the spirit I carry with me every day.
